I recently returned from a 10 day trip to Massachusetts. I spent most of that time visiting with my family, but there was another special reason I was back in my hometown. My cousin, Alyssa, was getting married.
When I heard Alyssa and Joe were engaged, I wasn’t surprised. They’ve been together for a very long time, and Joe is such a wonderful man. I knew they would end up married sooner or later.
However, I was surprised when Alyssa and Joe asked me if I would be interested in being their photographer. Of course, I couldn’t say no. So there I was, standing inside their house on their wedding day feeling the self-imposed pressure rising. I didn’t want to let Alyssa and Joe down! I took a deep breath and began documenting the day, allowing my heart to guide me.
There were so many moments that choked me up throughout the day. But the moment that really got me was when my uncle saw Alyssa for the first time. It took everything I had not to start crying too!
I only had a few minutes with Joe before the ceremony. We had just enough time for him to finish getting ready before the big moment arrived.
After the ceremony, we headed to the Springfield Country Club for the reception. Before the party got started, we did all of the formal portraits on the club grounds which made for a beautiful backdrop. If you notice in the photo above, the country club is reflected in the ring!
I want to give a shout out to the following venders who were absolutely amazing to work with!
One last thing… I found this photo of Alyssa and I during one of our family holidays. I believe this was taken about 16 years ago. This is how I remember her, because it’s around the time when I moved away. It’s weird to think she’s all grown up and married now!!
Congratulations Alyssa and Joe! Love you both. 🙂
